Kathmandu ↔ Pokhara, every morning
Daily tourist coaches both ways on the Prithvi Highway — reserved seats, hotel-area pickup in Kathmandu, and a lakeside drop in Pokhara.
The Kathmandu–Pokhara road is how most travelers move between the capital and the lake. World Touch runs daily tourist buses in both directions, aimed at international guests who want a reserved seat, a known pickup, and a coach that is cleaned and crewed for the highway — not a local microbus.
The ride follows the Prithvi Highway beside the Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers. On a clear day you see Annapurna-range foothills; in monsoon you see green gorges and careful driving. Typical journey time is 7 to 8 hours including a lunch stop, sometimes longer if the highway is slow.

- Morning departures only — we do not run overnight buses on this route.
- A lunch stop is made around Mugling or a similar highway town.
- Mountain weather and road works can add time. We would rather arrive late than rush the gorge sections.
- Pokhara drop is at a lakeside tourist-bus park; Kathmandu drop is in the Thamel / Sorhakhutte tourist-bus area, with hotel drop on selected coaches.

How the route feels
We began as a Thamel trekking desk and added the Pokhara coach because guests kept asking for one reliable seat instead of a street-side ticket. The service has run daily in both directions through the main season for years, with sofa and deluxe coaches added as the highway and traveler expectations improved.
Policies
Booking
Reserve by WhatsApp, email, or the contact form. Same-day seats are sometimes available before 6:00 if the coach is not full — ask, do not assume.
Payment
Pay at our Thamel desk, by bank transfer, or in cash on boarding for confirmed bookings. Card payment can be arranged in the office.
Cancellation
Free changes up to 24 hours before departure. Later cancellations may keep a seat fee if we cannot resell it.
Luggage
One trek duffel and one cabin bag is the usual allowance. Extra cargo needs a check with us first.
ID
Carry your passport. Crews may note names against the manifest, especially on deluxe coaches.
Questions
How long is the Kathmandu to Pokhara bus?
Plan on 7 to 8 hours, including a lunch stop. Landslides or traffic near Mugling can make it longer.
Is the tourist bus safe?
It is the standard way international travelers do this route. We use established highway coaches, morning departures, and crews who drive this road daily. It is still a mountain highway — we do not oversell it as a flight.
Can I book both directions?
Yes. Most trek guests book Kathmandu to Pokhara before the trek and Pokhara to Kathmandu after.
Do you pick up from my hotel?
Thamel hotels are covered on morning Kathmandu departures for deluxe and many tourist coaches. Outside Thamel, ask us — we will say clearly if you need to reach the bus park.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Do not count on it. Mobile data works on much of the highway and drops in the gorges.
